Port Dundas was a single grain distillery in Glasgow that was founded in 1811. It was located on the banks of the Forth & Clyde Canal and became one of the largest grain producers in Scotland. The founder was Daniel McFarlane & Co. and began using continuous Coffey stills in 1845. This was new technology at the time and revolutionised the Scotch whisky industry. By 1902 it has swallowed up the neighbouring Dundashill and Cowlairs distilleries to become a massive site. It was latterly owned by Diageo and was a key component in the Johnnie Walker blended range of whiskies. Diageo closed the site in 2010, demolishing much of it in 2011, and moving all production to Cameronbridge.
