Ardmore was built by Adam Teacher; son of the founder William Teacher who died shortly before the distillery was completed in 1898. It was the family’s first venture into distilling and was built to secure a constant spirit supply for their Highland Cream brand. This had grown massively in popularity since being introduced in 1884. It is located next to the Inverness to Aberdeen railway line and was strategically built there for easy transportation of casks and barley in, and whisky out. Its soft style of Highland smoke is highly regarded and still plays a significant role in the Teacher’s Highland Cream blend. This sits alongside a small core range of bottlings, which have a cult status amongst whisky drinkers.
