Auchroisk is in the Speyside region of Scotland, close to the village of Mulben. The name means ‘shallow ford across the red stream’ in Gaelic and refers to a crossing on the nearby Mulben Burn. It was commissioned by Justerini & Brooks, and production began in 1974 It was built following growth in popularity of blended whiskies in the 1960s and early 1970s, It remains a major single malt component of the popular J&B Rare blend. One of the distillery’s first single malt releases was the forerunner to the modern The Singleton range. In 1986, The Singleton was used as it was thought Auchroisk would be too difficult for people to pronounce. Now, the only regular bottling from Diageo sits in their Flora & Fauna range.
