Glen Garioch is one of Scotland’s oldest distilleries. It was founded in 1797 in the town of Oldmeldrum in northwest Aberdeenshire. It is one of just a handful of distilleries that remain in operation from the 18th century. Its long history includes multiple closures, rebuilds and changes in ownership, including periods under Distillers Company Ltd and Morrison Bowmore. The distillery resumed full production under Suntory Global Spirits and has become known for a robust Highland style with a firm malty backbone. Its old buildings and longstanding heritage make it one of the more historic and traditional distilleries in Scotland. An underrated single malt and great place to visit.
