The Glen Keith distillery in the Speyside town of Keith was founded in 1957. The 1950s saw a huge boost in sales of Chivas Regal and owners Seagram’s and Chivas Brothers decided to build a distillery to help with the supply of single malt for it. Glen Keith was the result. It was home to the first gas-fuelled still in Scotland but also suffered a signification period of closure in the early 21st century. Having been mothballed in 1999, it did not reopen for production until 2013. However, the lab remained open for new production development and research. The spirit has always been primarily used in Chivas Regal and other blends, with occasional single malt releases. A classic Speysider.
