Glenkinchie was founded in 1837 near Pencaitland in East Lothian and is one of the best-known distilleries in the Lowlands. It was a founding member of Scottish Malt Distillers in 1914 with four other Lowland distilleries. This evolved to became part of DCL, and more recently Diageo. Glenkinchie serves as one of the company’s 'Classic Malts', representing the Lowland region. It is also one of Diageo’s Johnnie Walker ‘Four Corners of Scotland’ sites and is an important ingredient in the famour blend. Historically, Glenkinchie has been valued for a light, floral style that fits both blending and single malt presentation. Its proximity to Edinburgh has made it one of the most visited Scotch distilleries with whisky tourists.
