Linkwood was founded in 1821 by Peter Brown and sits on the outskirts of the City of Elgin in Speyside. It was later rebuilt by his son William in 1872 and much of this remains. A further extension was added in the 1970s. It is owned by Diageo. Much of its production has traditionally gone into blends, particularly White Horse and Johnnie Walker. Official single malt bottlings are relatively rare and often limited to one underrated whisky that sits in Diageo’s Flora & Fauna range. This range highlights lesser-known workhorse distilleries in their estate. Linkwood is prized for an elegant, fragrant style that showcases a fine Speyside character.
