Littlemill claimed to be Scotland’s oldest licensed distillery, with roots traced back to 1772. Located in the village of Bowling to the west of Glasgow, it was unusual in style and equipment and known for experimenting with different spirit characters. The distillery closed permanently in 1994, and the buildings later destroyed by fire in 2004. This makes the remaining stock highly collectible and desirable. Though silent, Littlemill remains an important historical name in Lowland whisky. Bottlings and casks are highly sought after and prized, with the minimum age now being over thirty years. Remaining bottlings and the majority of casks are owned by the Loch Lomond Group.
