By Faye Shilton, Marketing Director, October 2024.
Last month I attended a clay shoot fundraising event organised by Race Against Dementia, where we donated an amazing prize for auction. This is the second time we have supported the charity, following the inclusion of information about the organisation in our VIP bags at The Game Fair in July.
Partnerships with purpose
As highlighted in my recent blog ‘Whisky Cask Insights Through a Marketing Lens: Part 1’, partnerships with purpose are extremely important to the team at Whisky 1901. It’s a privilege to be able to support such great causes including Race Against Dementia.
Founded by Scotch whisky enthusiast and Formula 1 legend, Sir Jackie Stewart OBE, the charity funds early-career researchers to accelerate progress towards a cure for dementia. With over 55 million people living with dementia across the globe, its work and continued funding is vital. To date, the global charity has raised over £10 million for the cause.
I have previously collaborated with Race Against Dementia and was delighted to support the team again at the latest event. To help raise funds, Whisky 1901 donated a bottle of Edition One of our independent bottling line, The Collection, worth over £1,300, to be part of a silent auction.
About the auction
The day started bright and early with breakfast followed by clay shooting and lunch. The event culminated in the afternoon with prize giving and the all-important auction.
Hosted by sports broadcaster Rupert Bell, many auction items were up for grabs. They included tickets to the 2025 Grand Prix at Silverstone. A three-night luxury vacation at the 5* Weissenhaus, including dinner at a 2-Michelin restaurant and treatments of your choice at the spa. A STEWART film poster, signed by both Sir Jackie Stewart and Lady Helen Stewart.
In total, with support from all the event sponsors, the fundraiser amassed over £130,000, with The Collection Glenburgie 35-Years-Old going for £1,500 in the auction. These vital funds will all go towards supporting the charity’s mission of fast-tracking dementia research.
It was a great day to be part of and we look forward to continuing our support for Race Against Dementia in the future.
Commitment beyond casks
At Whisky 1901, our commitment extends beyond casks. Since our establishment in 2019, we have wholeheartedly supported a variety of charitable causes that hold special significance to us. Through initiatives such as charity raffles and silent auctions, we have successfully raised funds that have been entirely donated to these organisations to further their impactful missions.
